Anoop Singh Bishnoi on Creating a successful lifelong Personal Brand

Today’s world is undeniably digital – from personal storytelling to commercial opportunities, social media has completely transformed the mode of expression and awareness. Whether it’s enhancing your brand’s reach or simply building your brand from scratch, one thing is for sure that the role of social media in image building/branding has never been more important than it is today.

Creating and maintaining an image on social platforms is no doubt a challenge, but let’s not forget that it’s one of the most effective tools to forge a direct relationship with your audience, who are also your potential customers. To get an insider view, we asked some questions to the well known entrepreneur and a passionate philanthropist – Anoop Singh Bishnoi, about what he thinks of personal branding in the age of social media…here’s what he has to say, “It’s not easy to build trust with your customers, but a strong social media presence definitely helps generate loyalty over time, it has the power to influence how people would view your business.”

It goes without saying that when you share something online, be it a post, a limited time story, or even a comment, you’re crafting your online persona which will reflect your personal values and professional skills. But is there a strategy to do it effectively? Anoop adds, “You don’t really need a strategy, just make sure the network you’re using is updated and has your complete and accurate information. Coming to what you can share online…totally depends on what you’re an expert at, or simply something that you think should become a topic of discussion. I am trying to use my social media to spread awareness about educational causes. Your reasons can be different, just stay true to yourself.”

Making posts every day on social media isn’t easy, plus it can be quite time-consuming…how does Anoop handle that while multitasking on a busy schedule? He says, “…it’s okay if you don’t want to share everyday, just try to be active on the platforms. Regularly sharing content keeps your audience interested, but oversharing can also make it seem like annoying advertisements… it’s all about the right balance. Just think of your interactions and your content as a resume – share what you have written, demonstrate your industry expertise, add your achievements and some engaging tidbits about your personal life… social media is all about the individual first.”

There are thousands of opportunities online to join groups focused on industries and topics, how important are these to create links and connections? Are these even useful? To this Anoop adds, “LinkedIn and Facebook are the two primary platforms for community building as of now, and yes, these groups are fruitful in reaching out to your audience… make sure you’re finding topic-based groups so you can jump into discussions and add your unique insights. That’s exactly what social media is about – conversations! Remain consistent with your idea and create an online image/vibe that works for your brand, so your audience knows who you are and what you’re bringing to the table.”

What matters most is how you share your expertise, personality, and passion…so it brings value to people’s lives. After all, social media can be quite vocal for even the most silent people.
