Cultivating an Entrepreneurial Mindset

Successful entrepreneurs have a unique way of thinking and acting that sets them apart from the rest of us. The good news is that anyone, no matter what they do, can learn to think like an entrepreneur and put these powerful secrets to work in their own lives.

Changing your perspective is the key to developing an entrepreneurial mindset: You’ve to start afresh every day, no matter how long you've been in the business. As a part of this ongoing discussion, we had a chance to have a short conversation with a well-established and experienced entrepreneur, Anoop Singh Bishnoi, and ask about specific ways in which entrepreneurs think about and approach problems.

Entrepreneurs, like everyone else, have different strengths and weaknesses, so the views expressed here are elastic and subjective, but really insightful.

Here’s what he said, “ I believe that it’s entirely up to you to choose the attitudes and assumptions you will carry with you throughout your life, and you have the power to change them, don’t let the din of other people’s opinions drown out your inner voice. One’s ability to make decisions is the only thing that decides their future success. In fact, at the other end of the spectrum, indecision is one of the leading causes of business failure. Being an entrepreneur, it is essential to get used to the fact that no one knows everything, but you can always pretend that you do. How will it help? It will make you appear more confident. Pretending to be good at something will allow you to do it confidently enough times until you are. One must learn to accept making mistakes and failing, what matters is to be able to bounce back and move ahead in the face of adversity. It will help one to grow and learn. One should allow their inner child to run wild - keep an open mind about one’s competitors, latest trends and events, technologies, and business ideas. Take calculated risks and never settle for less.”

Entrepreneurs may have an uncanny ability to predict which business ideas will succeed. However, it all takes a lot of hard work and trial and error, behind the scenes. You must work like an entrepreneur to think like one. There will always be risks, so work to minimize and mitigate them. Be deliberate in your search for the next great idea. Don’t wait for inspiration to strike. Good information inspires good decisions, so roll up your sleeves and make notes of all that you might need to make an informed decision, you’ll be surprised to find mentors at every step of your journey, once you show up with determination.
