Understanding an Entrepreneur’s Unique Approach to Giving

Anoop Singh Bishnoi, a serial entrepreneur, is on a mission to strengthen the educational sector by bringing in new ideas and opportunities based on skill learning. What motivates him to do this?

Many of us aspire to give more time and money to charitable causes, and we all do as much as we can, but little is known about how entrepreneurs approach giving or how and why they integrate giving into their businesses.

For Anoop Bishnoi, education had a significant and lasting impact on his life and career, which is why this is the cause he truly aspires to contribute towards.

In his ancestral town in Punjab, he witnessed students drop out of schools due to lack of basic facilities and/or lack of funds to carry on. And even when that wasn’t the case he realized that the focus is not really on teaching and educating, it's treated more like a formality as most schools in small districts and towns do not have qualified teachers, books, stationary, or other basic amenities (water, furniture, electricity). All of these factors affect learning, and more so for girls (for example due to lack of toilets, privacy, and safety).

It all started with a passion to support causes that people close to him have been affected by, essentially - lack of quality education. His approach to charitable giving goes beyond simply donating; it’s about volunteering, organizing fundraising events and serving on various boards of educational institutions. From 2018 to 2020, he worked with and for the children of Delhi’s Red Light district, and such encounters only fueled his passion, while also reinforcing his belief that people and society must be nurtured and strengthened from the bottom up.

Anoop Singh believes that his businesses have given him a reason to give, and if his time and resources could help a family change their story or maybe break a cycle for generations to come, then it’s a fortunate opportunity for him that he would never want to miss. At present, he’s the Chairman at JDS School and Friends of Round Square (now Forum of Regional Schools). While working with these foundations, his initiative and focus is to bring innovative education practices that develop essential skills in our students from a young age, allowing them to excel globally and in future industries so they could gain control of their economic power and build wealth.

Adjacent to the JDS School (in Dist. Fazilka, Punjab), the family foundation is in the process of setting up,

-          A 2500 strong ICSE school with Boarding Facilities

-          A Skill Development Centre

-          A Ladies’ College for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees/diplomas

-          A Law College

-          A Maternity cum Nursing College

Working with the district schools and being an integral part of our future generations’ success stories is the ultimate motivation for Anoop Singh Bishnoi, to not only give a 100% to his businesses but also to his philanthropic passions. He’s reached a stage in his life where philanthropic success is as important as business success, if not more.
