How to maintain a work-life balance – Anoop Bishnoi

Balancing your personal and professional life can be a little challenging, as work often takes precedence over everything else in our lives. If you’ve been pushing yourself a little too much these days, while setting aside your well-being, then this read is especially for you!

We often fail to achieve a harmonious work-life balance as our desire to succeed professionally often overpowers the demands of our personal life and the need to constantly check and improve our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. To create a work-life balance is to prioritize both personal and professional demands equally. What could be the positive effects of this equilibrium? Lower risk of burnout, less stress, and enhanced productivity.

If you’re wondering how to get there then we have some good news for you! We recently spoke to a well-known entrepreneur who is not only extremely driven in regards to his professional goals but also equally prioritizes his personal life and passions - Anoop Bishnoi. We asked Anoop to share some of his favorite tips and hacks to maintain a balanced routine, and here’s what he said, “…for me, creating a healthy work-life balance isn’t about creating a schedule or dividing hours between work and personal life, rather it’s about having that flexibility to get things done and still having time and energy to enjoy my personal time…I think that’s the most realistic way to achieve balance, it doesn’t happen with scheduling, it happens over time when you accept that there’s no ‘ideal’ balance as such, and what’s more important is to remain fluid and to constantly assess your needs and goals.”

While this may seem ideal, not everyone has the ability to figure out what and how to prioritize first is there anything they can do about that? Anoop Bishnoi adds, “No matter where you are in your life, your first and foremost priority should be your health, if you’re struggling with that or overworking yourself, you can never get what you want, be it in your personal or in your professional life. Taking out time to unwind is critical to succeeding in the future; it helps you feel energized and happy. To recover from burnouts, you can practice meditation, and simple exercises, or just take a break and go for a vacation, and spend time with people who matter in your life…the company you work for isn’t going to take a hit if you’re on leave for a few days, but your personal relationships and your relationship with yourself will surely deteriorate if you don’t set boundaries for work-hours.”

At the end of the day, the meaning or practice of work-life balance will be different for different people. Practicing a flexible schedule will not only increase your productivity at work but will also give you more free time to relax outside of work. After all, ‘balance’ is a very personal thing, and only you know what suits you the best.
