Anoop Bishnoi - Building self-confidence while building your business

Starting something new can seem a little intimidating at first, especially if it’s a fledgling venture. Just like one needs sturdy assets to build a strong foundation, one requires adequate self-confidence and self-esteem for a robust career. While it comes naturally to some, others have to work hard to develop it. Fortunately, there are some strategies and exercises that can help new entrepreneurs acclimate to their roles with poise and conviction, and become more confident.

To remove any barriers of self-doubt and insecurities and get better at what you’re already so good at, one can learn and derive from experienced entrepreneurs who have seen the ups-and-downs in their vocation(s). Anoop Singh Bishnoi, is perhaps such an entrepreneur, and here’s what he discerns, “Entrepreneurship takes courage, and to succeed, one needs to believe in oneself. True Confidence emerges from being self-aware of one’s abilities, strengths, and weaknesses –and it keeps one planted in reality. Acknowledging one’s limitations, saying no when it’s necessary are needed aspects…having confidence doesn’t mean one has to do everything by oneself – burnouts, stress, and depression erode confidence, so instead of saying “I don’t think I can”, sternly make your nos clear. Another thing that helps to boost confidence is how one attires oneself, it also affects how we see ourselves. Choose clothing that reflects what you want to project. Most importantly, develop a mindset of self-worth, recognize your achievements, learn from your past mistakes, and approach life with steps of progress, not perfection – convince yourself that you’re confident.”

Obviously, there’s no switch to make one feel confident instantly, your confidence is your own, it’s in your hands to develop or undermine it. Just remember, no matter at what stage of business you are, confidence is most effective when it is grounded in expertise and authenticity, trust yourself and you’ve got it!
