Hybrid Classrooms-Creating The Future, Today

The concept of blended learning or a ‘hybrid’ model of learning has been around for a while, but it has recently received a lot of attention due to the unprecedented global crisis.

Here’s what Anoop Singh Bishnoi, Chairman of The Doon School, Dehradun has to say about transforming learning for the post-covid situation with a hybrid approach. He says, “Over the last two years, a paradigm shift in learning has accelerated the development of newer educational formats to meet the students’ evolving needs. With hybrid approaches, we are moving away from simply assessing the rights and wrongs towards a system that allows teachers to identify learning gaps and gain a deeper understanding of why, and in which areas, a student requires additional assistance. This is critical for strengthening and providing personalized learning journeys. Against the backdrop of a changing educational landscape, those at the center must remain top priority. Nothing can ever replace face-to-face education, but a strategic hybrid learning approach based on effective edtech can assist teachers in overcoming the challenges of remote teaching, while also supporting student engagement and attainment. Moreover, an effective implementation and utilization of blended learning, several challenges such as high costs, geographical distance, overcrowded classrooms, and access to quality education, can be successfully mitigated.’

A properly implemented hybrid learning system should be viewed as a continuum between the classroom and remote learning. Rather than catering to one or the other, educators can achieve this hybrid capability through the use of edtech, giving them the agility to repurpose or adapt their teaching practices to any scenario while also fundamentally providing a richer and more diverse style of lesson delivery.
